Cookies on Your Terms

The atlas’s core features do not need advertising cookies, analytics scripts or a stored copy of your draft.

What cookies are

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a browser for a website. Other technologies, including localStorage and sessionStorage, can also retain information on a device. These differ from temporary JavaScript variables, ordinary downloaded files and the browser’s cache of page assets.

What the core website uses

The supplied atlas pages and their script do not set cookies or write to localStorage or sessionStorage. There are no embedded advertising, analytics or social-media scripts in the core resource. Navigation state, scroll-reveal state and the message preview are held temporarily while a page is open.

If separate site-level consent controls are presented, use those controls for the technologies they describe. A preference control supplied by the hosting layer may store your choice separately from the atlas’s core script. Optional tracking should not run without consent where consent is legally required.

What happens in the message tool

Typing into the form updates a local preview. Copy Message places text on your clipboard after your action and subject to browser permission. Download Text creates a file through your browser. Neither feature is a cookie, and neither sends the message. Your device or browser may retain clipboard history, restore form values or synchronise downloads according to its own settings.

Browser cache and technical services

Your browser may cache HTML, styles, scripts and images to improve loading. Hosting or security services may process technical requests independently of page cookies. Such processing is addressed in the privacy notice; the absence of cookies does not mean that delivering a web page involves no technical data.

Managing your choices

You can inspect and remove cookies and site storage through your browser’s privacy or site-settings controls. Clear the cache separately if you also want to remove saved page assets. Blocking cookies should not prevent reading these guides. Clipboard permissions can be changed through browser settings; Download Text remains an alternative when clipboard access is unavailable.

Clearing browser storage does not delete files you downloaded, messages you emailed or copies held in a clipboard manager. Manage those through the relevant application or device controls, particularly on shared equipment.

External websites and questions

Links to standards bodies and other resources open services with their own cookie practices. Review those sites independently. For questions about this resource, contact [email protected] or consult our contact details. We update this page when the core website’s storage behaviour changes.
